Forensic Assessment

A forensic assessment evaluates individual’s social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioural functioning as they pertain to a forensic referral.  It may also include measures of behavioural functioning, personality, and screening tools for several other disorders depending on the referral and assessment purpose.

Some things that forensic assessments may be used for include domestic violence, sexual abuse, substance abuse, violence risk assessments, re-offending risk assessments, other risk assessments, and more. Each referral is unique and our specific assessment is uniquely tailored to meet the referral needs.

A forensic assessment may be requested by courts, lawyers, child and family services, or other professionals.

The assessment may include a combination of clinical interviews, rating scales, cognitive evaluation, psychometric testing, and more. At the end of the assessment, the psychologist will compile the data into a report that will be shared with you. When you receive your report, your psychologist will discuss your individualized results and recommendations with you. You will be able to ask any questions you have at this time.
