Gifted (Intellectually Advanced) Assessment

A gifted (intellectually advanced) assessment may be required as part of the application process to be admitted into one of the gifted programs or schools across Canada. A gifted assessment typically consists of a cognitive assessment that helps assess your child’s intellectual functioning and academic achievement.

The specific criteria that a school uses to confirm advanced intellectual and academic ability will differ from school to school. Thus, it is important to know the criteria that a school deems necessary as part of the application/admission process (ie. Is there a specific battery of psychometric tests your school requires?). This information will help our psychologist ensure that the assessment includes all parts necessary for that specific school.

The assessment will include a combination of clinical interviews, rating scales, document review, psychometric testing, and more. At the end of the assessment, the psychologist will provide you with a report. When you receive your report, your psychologist will discuss your individualized results and recommendations with you. You will be able to ask any questions you have at this time.
